The Palace grounds are enclosed by a laterite wall, however only its base remains today. The wall which is 600m long by 250m wide was surrounded by a moat. Especially, there are Royal terraces which stretch out for a length of about 400 meters running from the East to the North South of the palace boundary. The two terraces, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King where King Jayavarman VII watched the games and celebrations were held.
The structure of Royal Palace consists of a lot of areas including outstanding works such as Stateroom, Chanchhaya stage, Silver Pagoda, garden, etc. Each place plays its role and is responsible for its own functions. At the Royal Palace, there are many beautiful spots for tourists to admire.
Stateroom is the most important place in the palace where ceremonies, protocols and some traditional rituals are held. It was built 2 times. The first was built of wood in 1869-1870 under King Norodom. This work then was demolished in 1915. The second was built in 1917 and was inaugurated in 1919 by King Sisowath. As other the houses and buildings in the palace, the Statetroom is to the East and the most brilliant in the morning. Travel to Cambodia
