The Night Market (Phsar ri-trey in Khmer) is located between Streets 108 and 106, although it is easiest to enter by the gate at the north end of riverside to avoid scrambling between lines of parked scooters. The stalls open at dusk every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and business is usually brisk until at least 21:30.
It offers a wide and varied range of Cambodian wooden handicrafts, silks, art, scarves, clothes, inexpensive jewelry and souvenirs. The Night Market in Phnom Penh is famous among the locals for the fashion clothes there, which are mainly imported from China. The market was originally aimed towards visitors and tourists but interestingly thought is that it is probably more popular among Cambodians than foreigners. Travel to Cambodia
The Market is different from the other markets in Phnom Penh because of its big stage. On stage dance performances are shown and a variety of local talents singing Khmer pop songs. These performances are not done to entertain tourists but are for local young Cambodians. While it is an open market like a local market, it has a bit more of a relaxed and festive atmosphere than a typical local market. The night market is a different addition to Phnom Penh’s shopping scene. There is also a picnic area behind the stage where you can sit down and enjoy the food from the food stands and listen to music. If you are there around 6:00 p.m., you can catch a large group of Cambodians involved in daily aerobics complete with loud music and synchronized movements. Then take a wander through the Night Market perusing the goods and sampling a variety of foods on offer while enjoying the live music.
