 Kirirom National Park

Kirirom National Park

Kirirom National Park is an ideal place to escape from the heat and enjoy natural beauty. Therefore in the 1930s, King Sihanouk named this park Kirirom when he visited there. The meaning of “Kirirom” is “mountain of joy”. Unfortunately, today only remnants of King Sihanouk’s mansion remain because of civil war’s consequences.

Kirirom National Park consists of beautiful pine forests, waterfalls and mountain streams. Kirirom covers an area of 35000 hectares and is estimated to be composed of natural and semi-natural vegetation. The park is a mountain resort (800 meters above sea level), known for its pine tree covered hills, waterfalls and lakes. Especially, many visitors go there to explore hiking trails through the forest. Tourists can start at the top of the mountain next to the visitors’ center and make their way down the mountain, passing through fragrant pine trees, leafy green foliage, brightly singing birds and on rare occasions, wild deer or porcupines.
