Still being a work in process, the Mad Monkey, which is an up and coming hotspot in Phnom Penh, makes you quickly charmed into forgiving any just-opened glitches. Although a bit pricey, the bar and restaurant are delicious while rooms are clean and comfortable. In the past, due to unresolved noise issues, the rooftop bar is closed, but do not fret, only moments away is the bar of the also popular Top Banana hostel.
Alibi Guesthouse ($15-27)
Centrally situated at Sothearos Boulevard, just moments away from the Royal Palace, meaning you can save lots of tuk-tuk rides, the Alibi Guesthouse, which is tucked down a side street of Sothearos Boulevard in a nice old French villa and very elegant itself, offers bright and airy rooms.
A lovely garden patio area is the place where a pool table beckons in the evening and breakfast served in the morning. You may have little trouble getting in if you come home late as Alibi is geared more towards families and those heading to bed early.
