Botahtaung Pagoda

The Botataung Pagoda is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon River. The pagoda was first built by the Mon people, over 2500 years ago. The Botataung Pagoda is one of the city’s most highly revered temples. The 40 meter high golden pagoda enshrines a sacred hair relic of the Buddha. In the center of the tiled platform stands the main stupa surrounded by a number of smaller stupas. Shwedagon Pagoda

From a humble beginning of 8.2 meters, the Shwedagon Pagoda today stands close to 110 meters. Saint Mary’s Cathedral   

St. Mary’s Cathedral is located on Bo Aung Kyaw Street in Botahtaung Township, Yangon. It was built in 1895 and was completed in 1899 and was designed by Dutch architect Joseph Cuypers. The interior of the Cathedral is splendidly decorated with some outstanding examples of featured exquisite stained glass windows, and has a red brick exterior, two spires and a bell tower. Saint Mary’s Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in Yangon, and it’s the largest cathedral in Myanmar as well. Chaukhtatgyi Buddha

Actually Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple is one of the most well-known place to visit in Yangon. It was built in 1907 by Sir Hpo Thar, who was a wealthy Buddhist followers. Unlike others, Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda is really less visible and you could easily pass the place if you didn’t know it was there.
