| DAY 1: SIEM REAP – BATTAMBANG |
| Depart from Siem Reap by road (about 3 hour drive) to Battambang, a quiet charming riverside town. Even though Battambang is Cambodia’s second largest city, you will find that the atmosphere is very laid-back and a big change from the capital city. This afternoon visit Battambang Museum (closes on Mondays) and take a leisure walk along the river passing a lot of small streets with French architecture. Relax and enjoy dinner at a restaurant specializing in Khmer food. Overnight in Battambang. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| DAY 2: BATTAMBANG |
| Spend today exploring Battambang’s rural part. Visit Phnom Sampeau, once home to notorious killing caves, but now a tranquil place for viewing the surrounding landscapes. Continue to the hilltop temple of Wat Banan, then join the exciting ride on the local bamboo train (Note: the train tracks from Battambang to Phnom Penh are currently being rebuilt. The long term future of the bamboo train ride cannot be guaranteed. Should the service stop we will arrange alternative sightseeing). This afternoon, continue through the countryside to visit cottage industries like rice paper production, weaving centers and even a fish paste factory. Continue to Phare Ponleu Selpak School of Music, Visual & Performing Arts, where art and education are provided to poor communities. Overnight in Battambang. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch |
